Definition of life

We are taught in Biology that a cell is the basic unit of life, and in Chemistry that atoms are the smallest particle that matter can be broken into and no further. Similar atoms form elements which there-in form compounds, which are the composition of a cell or life, and that there are no elements than those accounted in the Periodic Table. Yet an atom is made of smaller particles namely Protons, Neutrons and Electrons (PNEs).

Therefore, considering from unicellular living organism Amoeba to star Anterus, both are nothing but the composition of elements, or atoms, or just PNEs.

A stone which may be a composite Carbon, Hydrogen and Silicon, Iron, Calcium and/or other elements is considered lifeless. Yet these very elements in animal or plant kingdom make them living! Is it the pattern of arrangement of the elements you would say define life, or what one can call as living and non-living? Is the Carbon atom in a stone, or in a fuel, or in wood different than those found in our bodies?

The composition of various elements in living beings make them respond to stimuli: migrate, communicate, and reproduce. Yet most of these elements are also found abundant in nature in combined forms and they don’t talk, think, or may be move!

So is the scientific definition of life as moving PNEs? If so any object that moves is living, and that which does not as non-living. Then flowing water, moving clouds, passing vehicles, ticking clock, fluffing flag are all living! So what makes the moving PNEs of a bird different from the still PNEs of a pebble on a river bed? None, the mass and properties of PNEs are defined same and constant through out the universe.

Water is life or supports life, then two atoms of Hydrogen and one atom of Oxygen is life, but again the H and O atoms are PNEs just like those found in any other atom but in different quantities.

Then how is memory defined? Brain cells hold information (memory) and make us recall and learn, yet a brain cell or another cell has a nucleus and organelles enclosed in a membrane, which again are countless atoms of different elements organized in a particular structure (formula). And atoms again are PNEs regardless of which elements.

And finally considering that all elements are nothing but a composition of pure atoms consisting of a proportion of PNEs (ignoring other quarks, neutrinos, anti-quarks and photons), and this varying composition of the PNEs defines or shapes each element from another.

And if there was, say a PNE meter (for arguments sake) which could see PNEs as just Red-Blue-Green, than the whole universe is an infinite dots of massive RBGs randomly flowing.

Therefore, the whole universe is nothing but a composition of PNEs in infinite quantities, then the definition of living or non-living does not hold true and irrelevant. The universe and everything in it is this flow of PNEs.

Than there must be a single rule that governs, defines and holds this flow: the fundamental rule of the Protons, Neutrons and Electrons that have made them create the universe, the galaxies, the stars, the planets, and us.

And this is the Rule of rules!

Antares is probably just another countless star in our Milky Way galaxy, and which like the Andromeda, M5, M87 and so on are just another galaxies of the 125 billion estimated galaxies which make up what is called the universe!

Makes me ponder that we the superior, intellectual, trouble making humans are indeed insignificant in these universe, so what about the size of the small ant which looks up to humans as Gulliver?
